URBAN FORESTSCHALLENGES, OPPORTUNITIES AND RISKS

Urban Forests (indi­vi­dual trees, ave­nues, groups of trees, and forests near cities) are beco­ming increa­sin­gly impor­tant because they pro­vide a varie­ty of impor­tant eco­sys­tem ser­vices, inclu­ding recrea­tion, lei­sure, and micro­cli­mate. In the future, Urban Forests will take on an even more impor­tant role as a result of socie­tal changes and cli­mate change. In this context, the fol­lo­wing ques­tions arise: What are the chal­lenges, risks and oppor­tu­ni­ties that cities will face as a result of this deve­lop­ment? How can these be addres­sed? In this course, you will learn about urban stra­te­gies and concepts to ade­qua­te­ly deal with these chal­lenges, prevent risks and exploit oppor­tu­ni­ties. In addi­tion, you will dis­cuss these using concrete examples from practice.
